Sandy Flats Observatory

On Saturday night Terri Lynn and I drove an hour out into to country and travelled back in time 40 million years. Actually, we looked at the light of galaxies that was emitted approximately 40 million years ago. It was very fascination.

Ron Wakeford, a man from Bowmanville SDA Church, has built an 15 foot Pro Dome observatory around his 20 inch f4.3 Starmaster telescope.

As we were looking at planets and galaxies, it reminded us of how small we are and how great God is. For us it is hard to grasp 40 million years, but to God it is a speck in time. For us 40 million light years is VERY far away, but to God it is close in comparison to the infinite space He has created. And just think, we are God's special people created in His image.

If you are interested in astronomy I highly recommend visiting Ron's observatory. If you are interested, leave me a comment and I'll give you his information.

The Steadfast Life

Terri Lynn gave a great sermon in church today. I don't want to ruin it for you so all I'll tell you is that it's about Ruth. Listen to it below. It's about 20 minutes.

Reaching a Terminus

Why is it that some people have a stronger desire for God than others? Why do we sometimes feel more compelled to be close to God and other times hardly want anything to do with Him? I think it has something to do with coming to a personal terminus. When we realize that there really isn't anything worth living for without God, the need for Him grows. That is why I think it is so much more difficult for the rich to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Just a few thoughts for the day.

Using the word of the day

God can use anyone, even a nebbish. There are qualities about that type of person which often make it easier for him to surrender to God. To see oneself as weak, timid, and ineffectual without God is a good quality. But, to be a nebbish without a relationship with God, that would be a real bummer.

OUR Salvation

This morning for worship Terri Lynn and I had a really good discussion about where we are at in our relationship with God. We talked about remembering the salvation that God has given us and rejoicing in that instead of wondering how we fell away from the connected-to-Christ feeling we sometimes get. The reason for this is because when we get caught up in wondering what happened to our relationship with God, and why we are not doing the good works that come with that relationship with Him, we forget the salvation He has already given us. But if we just remember the salvation given us, then joy, hope, and love will grow within us for the One Who has given it to us. If we remember our salvation, we will feel better and the good works will just come out naturally.

Pretty basic and often heard but not taken to heart.
