A Perfect Week

It has been a great week with our parents. We were able to get to know each other better, and see much of Japan on our bikes. We don't want them to leave so soon.

Yesterday we went in to Tokyo and had a tour of the Imperial Palace. Of course, I posted pictures. After the Imperial Palace we walked though Ginza then came home to prepare for Sabbath.

After church today, they have to catch the train to the airport to fly back to Canada. No big deal, though, because if everything works out, we'll see them in a few weeks anyway.

Maritime Museums and Ferris Wheels

We spent yesterday and today going around Yokohama. We visited two maritime museums and rode the Ferris wheel. We also ate at a Japanese restaurant.

Quality time with Mom and Dad

Mom and Dad Thomas are in Japan visiting us. We have been having a blast with them here. Below are some pictures to prove it. We went on a 29 mile bike ride to Enoshima Island and Kamakura yesterday. Today we caught the train, bus, and taxi to the Sankeien Gardens and around Yokohama.

No more car

The Japanese Compulsorily Insurance (JCI) on my $1 car expired. To get it renewed my car needs to pass an inspection first then it would cost about $400. When I took my car in for the inspection, it failed. It's a 1991 Toyota Carina with only about 35,000 miles. Even though the engine runs great, they said it will cost me over $300 to fix all the other problems bald tires and broken light covers. That means if I want a car for the last month I'm in Japan it would cost me about $700. I don't think it's worth it. Even if I could sell it for $500, I still don't think it is worth it. So for my last month in Japan, I'll be riding my bike and running the five miles to work. It will be good training for the Boston Marathon anyway.
